Chair person - Anne Lane
The Norbury Theatre is the volunteer run theatre in the heart of Droitwich Spa. Run by The Droitwich Theatre and Arts Club (DTAC) it was founded in 1962 and the first production, a pantomime “Man in the Moon” took to the stage in 1963.
The building was once part of the Norbury House Hotel which opened to visitors in 1934 one of the few 5* hotels in the country. It sadly closed to visitors with the outbreak of war in 1939. During the 1960’ s DTAC rented the dining room and converted it into a 176 seat auditorium with a stage and eventually an orchestra pit. Since then, many extra rooms have been added and a dedicated team constantly take care of the building.
Members range in age from 8 to 80 and beyond! Each year producing at a mixture of full length plays, musicals, one youth production and an annual pantomime. Visiting groups are welcomed, many returning each year. There is also a Studio Theatre seating 45, ideal for smaller productions, comedy evenings etc.
The whole team are volunteers covering everything from performing to box office, front of house duties , back stage work and maintenance.
