A volunteer-run theatre in the heart of Droitwich Spa
Today is International Theatre day. What better time to update on what we are doing at The Norbury?
Just over a year has passed since the momentous day when theatres up and down the UK closed en masse including The Norbury. Originally believed to be for a few weeks and then months. During the last year we were saddened, not to have managed to stage our 2020 programme as well as cinema, streaming and performances from a range of external hirers. But we will soon be back as “The Show Must Go On”.
We have continued to work on the front of house appearance, and we cannot wait to show you the result and tell you about other exciting improvements.
We had several shows either in rehearsal or at planning stage when we closed. We can now confirm all these shows will take place over the coming 16 months. Details will be on the web site over the coming few weeks – please keep coming back for details and the opportunity to book your tickets.
We also have a range of outside hirers coming, many for a return visit – we are delighted to be welcoming them back.
In the meantime, we look forward to the return of cinema and to hosting the combined festivals of BFAME (Birmingham Festival of Acting and Musical Entertainment) and Worcestershire Theatre Festival and Western Division All England Theatre Festival Quarter Final at the end of June. This event will be hosted by our friends at the Worcestershire Theatre Festival. Bookings for cinema and the festival will open very soon.
We are really excited by the plans we have and look forward to sharing all of these with our valued and loyal audience.

Our Virtual Bucket Shake
Every year our annual pantomime helps us raise vital funds in order to keep the Norbury going. We always say that provided we have a good pantomime we can have a good year. This year due to the global pandemic, we were unable to do this. We are facing a loss of income from ticket sales, merchandise and bars. This is why we’d like to invite you to take part in a Virtual Bucket Collection this panto season.
Your donations will be used to help improve the outdated theatre heating system and replace with a modern, more energy-efficient setup that will reach all areas of the theatre premises.
