Beethoven’s only opera is a masterpiece, an uplifting story of risk and triumph. In this new production, conducted by Antonio Pappano, Jonas Kaufmann plays the political prisoner Florestan, and Lise Davidsen his wife Leonore (disguised as ‘Fidelio’) who daringly sets out to rescue him. Set in strong counterpoint are the ingredients of domestic intrigue, determined love and the cruelty of an oppressive regime. The music is transcendent throughout and includes the famous Act I Quartet, the Prisoners’ Chorus and Florestan’s impassioned Act II cry in the darkness and vision of hope. Tobias Kratzer’s new staging brings together the dark reality of the French Revolutionary ‘Terror’ and our own time to illuminate Fidelio’s inspiring message of shared humanity.

'A Bunch of Amateurs' by Nick Newman and Ian Hislop
The Norbury players present an amateur production
This amateur production of 'A Bunch of Amateurs' is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd., a Concord Theatricals Company.
Keen to boost his flagging career, fading Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steel arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford - only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village. And instead of Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judi Dench, the cast are a bunch of amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers.
Jefferson's monstrous ego, vanity and insecurity are tested to the limit by the enthusiastic am-dram thespians. As acting worlds collide and Jefferson's career implodes, he discovers some truths about himself - along with his inner Lear!

Liam Scarlett’s glorious production of Swan Lake, new in 2018, returns for its first revival. While remaining faithful to the Marius Petipa/Lev Ivanov text, Scarlett’s additional choreography and John Macfarlane’s magnificent designs breathe new life into what is arguably the best-known and most-loved classical ballet. The entire Company shines in this eternal tale of doomed love, a masterpiece filled with iconic moments. Tchaikovsky’s first score for ballet soars with its symphonic sweep and combines perfectly with exquisite choreography from the grand pas de deux of Prince Siegfried and Odile to the swans at the lakeside. An intoxicating mix of spectacle and intimate passion, the overall effect is irresistible

The fabulous Wymsical Theatre returns to the Norbury Theatre this Easter with an all-singing, all-dancing rendition of the musical theatre classic, Calamity Jane. Accompanied by a live on-stage band, these talented performers will whisk you to the Wild West with hits including "Secret Love", "The Deadwood Stage" and "The Black Hills of Dakota". Directed by Richard Taylor with choreography by Britt Needham and musical direction from Stephen Watkins, this is a musical treat for all the family.

'Charley's Aunt' - a farce in three acts by Brandon Thomas
The Norbury Players present an amateur production
Jack Chesney loves Kitty Verdun and Charley loves Miss Amy Spettigue. They invite the ladies to meet Charley's wealthy aunt from Brazil, "where the nuts come from". Cancelling her visit at the last minute, the millionaire aunt sends the boys into cataclysmic confusion. What do they do now? The problem is solved by drafting their feckless Oxford undergrad pal into a black satin skirt, bloomers and wig. As "Charley's Aunt", this charming frump is introduced to the ladies, to Jack's father and to Stephen Spettigue, Amy's guardian. When the real aunt turns up, classic comic confusion ensues as Fancourt Babberley, posing as "Charley's Aunt", tricks Spettigue into agreeing to the marriage of his ward, the real aunt marries Jack's father, Jack gets Miss Verdun, and Fanny Babs regains the fortune he lost at gambling as well as the girl he loves.

'The Ultimate Secret' & 'A Viennese Whirl'
Presented by Worcester Gilbert & Sullivan Society
This will be the second time that “The Ultimate Secret” has been performed on stage by the Worcester Gilbert & Sullivan Society, having been permitted to adapt it from the cartoon film “Dick Deadeye”. It is a hilarious comic opera based on many Gilbert & Sullivan favourites and tells the story of Dick Deadeye’s search for the secret which has been stolen by the Sorcerer, found by Buttercup and stolen from her by wicked Poo, twin brother of the goody Nanki. We are sure you will recognise the well-known characters from the various operettas and will enjoy the equally well-known tunes.
The second act will feature a selection of songs from Strauss which will get you waltzing in the aisles.

'Death(s) at Sea' - by Eleanor Catherine Smart
Our Star Theatre Company present an amateur production
A small theatre company are performing their murder mystery play Death at Sea, but during the show everything goes wrong. The original play, Death at Sea, is a thrilling murder mystery set in the 1930s on a small ship carrying just five passengers and its Captain.
When one of the passengers, Mr Inus, is found dead - murdered, the remaining passengers speculate and turn on one another until the real murderer, or murderers, are caught. But that isn’t how this play goes!
In Death(s) at Sea props fail, the set falls down, actors get drunk and concussed, and conversations in the wings reveal too much. If they can only make it to the end of the play before one of them really kills someone!

In its creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky fashion, the ghoulish Addams family are visiting the graveyard for an annual gathering with all their family members, living dead, and undecided, to celebrate what it is to be an Addams. However, the family encounters an unforeseen obstacle when Wednesday decides to introduce her new “normal” boyfriend Lucas to the family. In protest, Uncle Fester with the help of the Addams’ ancestors, attempts to call an end to the young budding romance. As Wednesday admits she is falling in love, Morticia, Gomez and Pugsley worry about her changing ways. As the families of Wednesday and Lucas come together for dinner one fateful evening, chaos occurs, and the two families find themselves admitting deep secrets and come together in ways they never would have imagined.
The Addams Family Musical tells the story of love and friendship through adversity, with a comical and macabre yet poignant spin.
